Have you ever belonged to an exclusive group? You do and may not even know it. Let me explain. A few years back I found myself in a position of needing to file for bankruptcy due to unforeseeable factors over which I had no control. My business was too dependent on one major client. The client filed for bankruptcy and was in trouble with the IRS. Because of my dependency on this business, I in turn was forced into bankruptcy.
Due to these circumstances, I was put in an uncomfortable position, between a rock and a hard place. That being between my accountant and lawyer. The plan my lawyer proposed during the bankruptcy involved repaying my creditors over a 25-year period. If I had followed that plan I would have spent the rest of my working life catching up. I would never have had the opportunity to run my business again. I felt as if I would be working for the courts for the rest of my life instead of working for myself. It was at that time I met with a turnaround professional that offered alternatives to my lawyers plan. My lawyer encouraged me to follow his plan rather than professional’s. Fortunately for me, I chose to implement the plan proposed by the professional.
I made the right decision. An entity was formed that bought out the bank’s security position in my company, a private sale was held, and the assets of the company were purchased and a fresh unburdened company was opened.
Without the advice and hands on experience of these professionals I would not be where I am today. I would still be paying off the old debt. That is why a group of us have started the Survivor Club, to give people who have been through the mess of bankruptcy a chance to be on the other side. The goal of the club is to help people who are in the same position that I used to be while providing a profitable return to the clubs investors. You know that it is impossible to borrow money from the traditional lenders when you have a tax lien or are in bankruptcy. Because I’ve been there, as have you, I know there are great opportunities to invest in companies that have tax liens or have filed bankruptcy. Through the Survivors Club I intend to raise enough capital to work with companies to get them turned around and profitable. This would create a profit for the investors as well as the business owner. Once a company has been turnaround returns can be substantial. Isn’t it time you got something back for all the hardship you have been through?
